Meeting with City of Cape Town

On Thursday, 19 June, the Friends of Orchard Village Waterways met with Cape Town City officials, partners and role players for a site inspection. It was a positive meeting as we look to get the ball rolling with our project.

The meeting followed a period of communication with the City of Cape Town where we received favourable feedback for the proposal put forward.

Because our project encompasses varied terrain and zones, a number of different municipal departments are involved.

Apart from the City officials, also present at the site inspection was ward councillor Carolynne Franklin as well as Jenny Louw of the Zandvlei Catchment Management forum, Hayley Dugmore and Barry from Kera.

It was agreed as a starting point, that additional litter booms should be placed by the two bridges on either side of the Westlake River in Orchard Village.
